• Talking about valve trains

Last week Scuderi Group Vice President and Patent Attorney Stephen Scuderi gave a presentation in Wurzburg, Germany, on the Scuderi Engine's sophisticated valve train design. Read more about "Talking about valve trains"...

  • Strengthening the Scuderi Patent Portfolio

Besides the marketing and engineer departments, the one area of Scuderi Group where you see constant motion is in Patent Development. The team never stops as they keep up with the latest innovations coming out of the lab at Southwest Research Institute. So today the company announced new patents to develop the second-generation ScuderiTMsplit-cycle engine. Achieving an industry-first, engineers applied a V design to the split-cycle engine to improve thermodynamic efficiencies for turbo charging and to provide automotive engineers more design flexibility. • The state of the battery

A report last night on PBS Newshour gave an extremely balanced look at the state of the electrical battery and its critical role it plays in the electric car's commercial success. The battery has made huge strides in size and efficiency over the last 50 years and automakers are churning out the latest plug-ins with hopes of finally hitting the mark for a marketplace winner. • A Scuderi in a Chevy

For as long as the Scuderi split-cycle concept has been in existence, we have constantly been asked the same question: "So, what kind of gas mileage would I get?" Read more about "A Scuderi in a Chevy"...

  • All engineering is local

The Society of Automotive Engineers has been around for over 100 years and was born out of a fledgling industry faced with a new era of mechanical design challenges around the emerging motorized horse carriage. In the early 1900s there were dozens of automobile manufacturers in the United States, and many more worldwide. Many of these manufacturers and automobile parts companies joined trade groups that met their needs for promoting business and raising public awareness of this new form of transportation. A need for patent protection, common technical design problems, and the development of engineering standards was quickly emerging, however,... Read more about "All engineering is local"...

  • Ready for World Congress!

Anyone stopping by our main office in West Springfield these past few weeks could easily notice the energy level up a couple notches. And given the time of year, that can usually mean only one thing: The SAE World Congress event is next week! Read more about "Ready for World Congress!"...

  • Snowy Washington seeing green

Scuderi Group landed in Washington, DC, this week amid snow, runway closures, and a local population that seems to shut down at the first sight of winter weather. But the prototype model arrived on time and continues to draw a crowd. This week that includes government vehicle developers, military, and congressional personnel. • Another report worth reporting..

We always take certain positions when it comes to various technology issues and developments. So as you can imagine we often find ourselves sucked into the electric mobility discussion by the constant churn of media and rhetoric that has strangely made the "electric car" the symbol of Green Transportation. And it's always our position to really take no position except to point out the facts when asked since it really doesn't have anything to do with the Scuderi Engine. (Except when you take into account the benefits the Scuderi thermodynamics cycle would bring to an electric hybrid vehicle application..) Read more about "Another report worth reporting.."...

  • Ask the Teacher: What’s the deal with plug gaps?

One of the interesting things about inventing and developing a brand new thermodynamic process is the wonder and curiosity of the academic community that is increasingly studying how combustion is achieved using the Scuderi Split-Cycle™.  We regularly receive inquires from students and professors around the world who seem fascinated by the workings of Scuderi thermodynamics. • Fuel consumption at sea

As we continue to develop the Scuderi Engine, it is typically looked at as primarily an automotive engine. True, our development path has been very vehicle-centric. (The company chose this development strategy early on, mostly because the automobile is one of the most complex and difficult environments to create consistent combustion.)  Read more about "Fuel consumption at sea"...
