  • Climbing the Hill

The Scuderi Engine made its way to Beacon Hill in Boston yesterday and was introduced to state government officials and press during a ceremony inside the Massachusetts State House. State Rep. John Scibak, vice chairman of the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies, formally addressed the audience that gathered at Nurse's Hall, just outside the Governor's Office. • A new look for World Congres

Like everything else associated with the car industry, the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress itself has gone through a noticeable downsizing. This year’s event – the annual gathering in Detroit of auto engineers that kicked off today – presented an entirely new look. Read more about "A new look for World Congress"...

  • When down means up

Downsizing has been a popular method among auto makers for years as a way to increase efficiency by forcing more oxygen into the combustion process, which allows the engine to be designed smaller and thus take more weight off the overall size of the vehicle. Unfortunately, downsizing has it limits and the physics of it all will only allow the reduction to only go so far. Read more about "When down means up"...

  • Timing seems right on Obama fuel standards

President Obama's announcement last week of a new planning process to set fuel efficiency goals is getting applause from automakers. The long-term plan builds on rules set last month for 2012-16 light vehicles, which require average fleet fuel efficiency of 35.5 mpg by 2016. • The path to great efficiency

There is an interesting development coming out of Southwest Research Institute, the independent lab in San Antonio, Tex., that is building and testing the Scuderi Engine. Engineers working on the prototype have found that, when operating under low load conditions, the pressure - and ultimately the efficiency - increases, and becomes more repeatable from cycle to cycle, when one of the two crossover passages is shut off.  Read more about "The path to great efficiency"...

  • Dream vs. Reality

2010 has been the year of the electric vehicle (EV). No doubt about that. Read more about "Dream vs. Reality"...

  • Back in Stuttgart

This week, the Scuderi Engine is on exhibit at Europe's premier engine trade show, Engine Expo. Held annually in Stuttgart, it is a three-day "feast" of automotive technologies. Read more about "Back in Stuttgart"...

  • Engines of the year

The Engine Expo in Stuttgart wrapped up today, with the climax of the event being the prestigious International Engine of the Year Awards that occurred Wednesday. Read more about "Engines of the year"...

  • A technical update on the engine

Followers of the Scuderi Engine are always interested in finding out what the latest news is around the testing and development of the prototype engine. And unfortunately, most can't follow us to the conferences and trade shows to hear our detailed engineering presentations. Read more about "A technical update on the engine"...
