On Monday we plan to make an official announcement about the simultaneous publication taking place today by both the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the World Intellectual Property Organization of our primary patent application covering Miller Cycle operation in a split-cycle engine.

We think this is important because of the new opportunities it opens up for creating power more efficiently.  In Monday’s announcement, Scuderi Group Vice President and Patent Attorney Stephen Scuderi states:

“Applying the Miller Cycle to the Scuderi Split-Cycle Engine is significant because it gives a split-cycle engine a significant advantage over a conventional engine... In this configuration, the compression cylinder can always run at or near maximum volumetric efficiency no matter how much it is downsized relative to the expansion cylinder; and achieving maximum volumetric efficiency keeps pumping losses across the intake valves to a minimum.”

You can hear Stephen describe the patent and technology in more detail by listening to this audio podcast.  To view the entire patent, click here.  Also on Monday, look back here for the information we reference in the press release about our compressed air energy storage capabilities.
